The first thing a Russian needs to travel to Ukraine is a Russian passport. To go for a general passport will not work. Ukrainian border guards may also request other documents – see the full list below. To be guaranteed to enter the territory of a neighboring state, we recommend that you collect the entire package of documents and take the required amount of money.

List of documents:

1. Guarantee of return to Russia (return ticket);

2. Paid tourist voucher (voucher), if you go from a travel agency or for treatment;

3. Reservation of housing and / or confirmation of paid meals in Ukraine;

4. Notarized invitation (original) – if you are going on a private visit, for example, to friends or family.

The letter of guarantee-invitation is issued by an individual in Ukraine. The invitation must be notarized and send the original to Russia. The document states:

• data on the host party;

• financial obligations of the host party;

• foreigner’s data;

• purpose of visiting Ukraine.

In addition to the invitation, a copy of the passport of the inviting person must be presented at the border.

5. Proof of solvency

  Foreigners and stateless persons must have a certain amount of money to enter a neighboring country – financial security.  The amount of financial security depends on the number of days of stay in Ukraine and the size of the subsistence level accepted in the country at the time of travel.

  It should be noted that the subsistence level in Ukraine changes several times a year (the next increase in July and December 2020).
